No, you don’t need to. In the Challenge or Verification, you can keep your positions open overnight and over-the-weekend as well.

However, on the FTMO Account, we require you to close your positions just before the weekend markets close. In other words, to be flat on Friday evening CE(S)T - Central European (Summer) Time. Our FTMO Traders must respect the market timings. For example, if you trade Indexes (S&P, DOW, FTSE, DAX,…) on the FTMO Account, we require you to close your positions just before these particular markets close on a daily basis. However, most of the brokers quote these indexes 24/5 so you need to be flat just before the weekend. If there is an overnight rollover of up to two hours on any instrument, it is ok to keep your positions open; i.e. you don't need to close your trades just because of this overnight rollover.

To find out the tradeable hours, you can check the instrument specification on the website of the broker where you trade your Challenge/Verification/FTMO Account, or you can find this information directly in your MetaTrader platform. When you open the Market Watch (Ctrl+M), right-click on the instrument of your interest, and choose 'Specification'. In the dialogue window, scroll down and you can see the 'Trade' hours of this particular instrument.

If you trade cryptocurrencies, some of our brokers allow you to trade them during the weekends as well.
