Trading Update – 17 Oct 2024

All times hereafter are expressed in the MetaTrader platform time – GMT+3 (CEST+1).

Weekend maintenance

During maintenance periods, trading on the specified platform(s) is disabled, and the platform(s) itself may be fully inaccessible.

MT4 and MT5: Maintenance will be carried out on both the MT4 and MT5 Platforms on Saturday, 19 Oct 2024, from 08:00 to 10:00.

cTrader: The cTrader trading platform will undergo maintenance on Saturday, 19 Oct 2024 between 10:00 and 13:00.

Listing of NATGAS.cash on Demo Servers:

Based on increasing interest and traded volumes in energy commodities, we are excited to announce the addition of the NATGAS.cash symbol to our platforms. The symbol will be listed on 21 Oct 2024, initially only for Free Trial Accounts on our MT4 and MT5 platforms. Providing all goes according to the plan, it will be fully listed on all platforms and servers during the following weekend.

NATGAS.cash is a spot CFD symbol designed to track the spot price of natural gas. The contract size will be 1000, the commission will be 0.001% of the notional value of the position per roundtrip. The default trade hours will be the same as US indices, so under normal circumstances, holding positions during Monday to Friday sessions will be allowed on all account types. Therefore, positions can be held open Monday-Friday on all accounts, but traders trading on non-Swing FTMO Accounts will have to close positions prior to the weekend. As always, make sure you keep an eye out for any announced holidays or maintenance windows.

Further updates will be announced next Thursday.

Daylight Saving Time Change in Europe on 28th October

Due to the upcoming Daylight Saving Time change in Europe, on 28 Oct 2024, the trade hours for European stocks (Equities II) in MT4 and MT5 platforms will be shifted one hour ahead, so for example, AIRF will have trade hours 11:05-19:30 instead of current 10:05-18:30. This adjustment affects the following stocks: AIRF, ALVG, BAYGn, DBKGn, IBE, LVMH, VOWG_p.
cTrader and DXtrade platforms display trade hours as per chosen timezone.

These changed trade hours will be applicable during the week between 28 Oct 2024 and 3 Nov 2024. Since US will be adjusting its DST time on 3 Nov 2024, the market opening times for these symbols will revert to their original opening times on 3 Nov 2024. As example AIRF will once again have trade hours in MT4 and MT5 between 10:05-18:30.

Please be mindful that Max Daily Loss is monitored based on Prague’s time and the daily drawdown resets at midnight. During the week between 28th Oct 2024 and 3rd November 2024, the offset between Prague’s midnight and the MetaTrader midnight will be 2 hours instead of the usual 1 hour. Please make sure to take this into account to prevent any accidental breach of Max Daily Loss due to this time offset. If you are unsure when exactly does the Max Daily Loss reset, you can go to your Account MetriX and hover with your mouse cursor over Today’s permitted loss. The tooltip has a countdown to the reset. Alternatively, you can just contact us on live chat for further assitance.

Overnight rollover swaps are subject to regular changes and adjustments, reflecting, among other things, interest rate differentials and dividend adjustments. If you are holding positions overnight, please be reminded that it is your responsibility to check these swaps in the contract specification for each symbol, and to adjust (if needed) and manage your positions accordingly. FTMO is not responsible for trading results affected by swap changes or adjustments.

The situation in Ukraine - geopolitical development, sanctions, and markets

Due to the war in Ukraine, traders can experience increased uncertainty in the markets, accompanied by increased volatility on many assets, along with the possibility of price spikes, whipsaws, flash crashes, spread widening and liquidity supply issues. Traders are advised to pay extra caution while trading during these times. Risk management and capital preservation should be the key focus of every trader, just as being aware and adaptive to the market conditions that might be unpredictable or risky.

Unfortunately, at this time, we are not allowed to process payments to regions of Crimea, Sevastopol, Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine and our clients from there, as per the latest sanctions imposed in connection with the war in Ukraine. There are also sanctions targeting some Russian banks and high-profile individuals. We are not allowed to process any payouts to clients and banks on the sanction list. Payouts to our clients from/in the subject locations, or being subject to the sanctions list, will be possible once the imposed sanctions are lifted. Crypto payouts are included in the restrictions.
