Updated Trading Conditions for the Dollar Index (DXY) and XAUUSD

Macroeconomic releases can significantly influence market behaviour and often lead to sharp changes in volatility. Some instruments react to these announcements more strongly than others, which is why it is important to protect traders from excessive risk and maintain fair and stable trading conditions.

Why Are We Adjusting the Rules for DXY and XAUUSD?

Gold, particularly in the pair with the USD (XAUUSD), responds very quickly to major US economic data. Announcements related to inflation, interest rates or the labour market can cause XAUUSD, just as the DXY (Dollar Index), to move rapidly within seconds. Such conditions can cause slippage, unexpected moves through stop-loss levels or reduced control over executions. You can learn more about this here.

Since our goal is to support consistent and responsible traders, this adjustment is being introduced to protect against volatility and to prevent attempts to exploit extreme short-term volatility.

How the Rule Works

In line with our current news rule applied to other sensitive instruments:

• The restriction applies from two minutes before to two minutes after the release of selected macroeconomic news.

• During this interval, it is not permitted to place, modify or close positions on the XAUUSD and DXY symbols.

• Violation of this rule may be considered a breach of the FTMO Account Agreement.

• Swing Accounts, FTMO Challenge and Verification remain exceptions.

Events During Which XAUUSD and DXY Cannot Be Traded

The restriction applies during selected macroeconomic events that historically generate the strongest volatility generated by the fundamentals linked to the US dollar. For each of the following announcements, the two-minute window before and after release will be subject to trading limitations. The affected events are:

• Federal Funds Rate and Statement

• Non-Farm Employment Change, Unemployment Rate and Wages

• Advance GDP q/q

• FOMC Meeting Minutes

• CPI y/y

These events have the most significant impact on XAUUSD and DXY volatility and carry a higher risk of non-standard order execution.

Purpose of the Measure

The goal of this adjustment is not to limit trading opportunities but to ensure trader protection and support trading that is based on strategy and discipline. Stable market conditions are essential for long-term performance and fair execution, and this update helps maintain an environment in which well-managed trading can prosper.
