Understand the key rules that apply to each trading phase and your FTMO Account.
You must satisfy all applicable Trading Objectives concurrently to meet the Evaluation Process requirements. For FTMO Account, continuous compliance with applicable Trading Objectives is required at all times.
To complete the Profit Target rule, you must achieve a defined minimum profit above the Initial Simulated Capital on the assigned account.
You will meet this objective once your account balance exceeds the Initial Simulated Capital by the required Profit Target with all positions closed.
The Profit Target for the FTMO Challenge is calculated as 10% of the Initial Simulated Capital.
This rule only applies to the FTMO Challenge: 1-Step. There is no Profit Target on the subsequent FTMO Account (1-Step).
Example for a $100,000 FTMO Challenge:
The Maximum Daily Loss rule establishes a limit (the Maximum Daily Loss Limit) below which your account equity (i.e., Balance + Open Positions P/L ± Swaps – Commissions) cannot drop. If the equity drops below this limit, the rule is considered violated.
The Maximum Daily Loss Limit is recalculated daily at 00:00 CE(S)T as the difference between:
On the first day, the account balance used for the limit calculation is the Initial Simulated Capital.
This calculated limit remains in effect until the next recalculation at 00:00 CE(S)T of the following day.
This rule applies to the FTMO Challenge: 1-Step as well as the FTMO Account (1-Step).
Example for a $100,000 account:
Limit for Day 1:
Limit for Day 2:
Limit for Day 3:
The Maximum Loss rule establishes an end-of-day trailing limit (the Maximum Loss Limit) below which your account equity (i.e., Balance + Open Positions P/L ± Swaps – Commissions) cannot drop. If the equity drops below this limit, the rule is considered violated.
The Maximum Loss Limit is recalculated daily at 00:00 CE(S)T as the difference between:
This calculated limit remains in effect until the next recalculation at 00:00 CE(S)T of the following day.
The limit can only increase, but never decrease. However, when a Reward is withdrawn and a new FTMO Account is provided, the Maximum Loss Limit fully resets, returning the first-day limit to 90% of the Initial Simulated Capital.
This rule applies to the FTMO Challenge: 1-Step as well as the FTMO Account (1-Step).
Example for a $100,000 account:
Limit for Day 1:
Limit for Day 2:
Limit for Day 3:

Consistency replaces the Best Day Rule, check whether it affects your account.
To pass the FTMO Challenge: 1-Step or to be eligible for a Reward on an FTMO Account, the Consistency rule requires that your Best Day does not represent more than 50% of your total profit.
The total profit is the cumulative sum of closed profits and losses across all trading days
The Best Day is a single day with the highest profit, where the profit is calculated from closed trades:
Exceeding the Consistency limit is not treated as a rule breach. However, you need to continue trading to generate additional profit until your Best Day (the most profitable day) represents 50% or less of your total profit on the account.
For informative purposes, the Consistency rule results are displayed in the Account MetriX.
Example (account size does not play a role):
P&L per Day:
Results at the end of Day 4:
The Best Day is Day 1. On this day, 60% of the total profit was achieved ($6,000 of $10,000 = 60%).
Because the profit achieved on the Best Day exceeds the 50% allowed limit, the Consistency rule is not satisfied. If Day 1 remains your Best Day, your total profit will have to be at least $12,000.
To pass the FTMO Challenge: 1-Step or to be eligible for a Reward on an FTMO Account, the Best Day Rule requires that your Best Day does not represent more than 50% of your Positive Days’ Profit.
The Positive Days’ Profit is the sum of closed profits and losses from all profitable trading days, with each new trading day beginning at 00:00 CE(S)T.
The Best Day is a single day with the highest profit, where the profit is calculated from closed trades:
Exceeding the Best Day limit is not treated as a rule breach. However, you need to continue trading to generate additional profit until your Best Day (the most profitable day) represents 50% or less of your Positive Days’ Profit on the account.
For informative purposes, the Best Day Rule results are displayed in the Account MetriX.
This rule applies to the FTMO Challenge: 1-Step as well as the FTMO Account (1-Step).
Example (account size does not play a role):
P&L per Day:
Results at the end of Day 5:
The Best Day is Day 2. On this day, 62.5% of the Positive Days’ Profit was achieved ($10,000 of $16,000 = 62.5%).
Because the profit achieved on Best Day exceeds the 50% allowed limit, the Best Day rule is not satisfied. If Day 2 remains your Best Day, your Positive Days’ Profit will have to be at least $20,000.
The Profit Target is calculated as a percentage of your Initial Simulated Capital:
This rule applies to both phases (FTMO Challenge and Verification) of the FTMO Challenge: 2-Step. There is no Profit Target on the subsequent FTMO Account (2-Step).
Example for a $100,000 account:
FTMO Challenge:
Verification:
The Maximum Daily Loss rule establishes a limit (the Maximum Daily Loss Limit) below which your account equity (i.e., Balance + Open Positions P/L ± Swaps – Commissions) cannot drop. If the equity drops below this limit, the rule is considered violated.
The Maximum Daily Loss Limit is recalculated daily at 00:00 CE(S)T as the difference between:
On the first day of trading, the account balance used for this calculation is the Initial Simulated Capital.
This calculated limit remains in effect until the next recalculation at 00:00 CE(S)T of the following day.
This rule applies to both phases (FTMO Challenge and Verification) of the FTMO Challenge: 2-Step as well as the subsequent FTMO Account (2-Step).
Example for a $100,000 account:
Limit for Day 1:
Limit for Day 2:
Limit for Day 3:
The Maximum Loss rule establishes a static limit (the Maximum Loss Limit) below which your account equity (i.e., Balance + Open Positions P/L ± Swaps – Commissions) cannot drop. If the equity drops below this limit, the rule is considered violated.
The Maximum Loss Limit is calculated as the difference between:
This rule applies to both phases (FTMO Challenge and Verification) of the FTMO Challenge: 2-Step as well as the subsequent FTMO Account (2-Step).
Example for a $100,000 account:
The Minimum Trading Days rule requires the trader to achieve at least 4 Trading Days.
A Trading Day is defined as any day – measured from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59 CE(S)T – during which at least one position is opened.
This rule applies to both phases (FTMO Challenge and Verification) of the FTMO Challenge: 2-Step. There is no Minimum Trading Days rule on the subsequent FTMO Account (2-Step).
Example (account size does not play a role):
The Minimum Trading Days rule is not satisfied, as positions were opened only on 3 Trading Days: 12 Jan, 18 Jan, and 24 Jan. To pass the FTMO Challenge phase or Verification phase, you will have to continue trading one more day.
The Maximum Daily Loss rule establishes a limit (the Maximum Daily Loss Limit) below which your account equity (i.e., Balance + Open Positions P/L ± Swaps − Commissions) cannot drop.
Example for a $50,000 account:
Limit for Day 1:
Limit for Day 2:
Limit for Day 3:
The Maximum Loss rule establishes an intraday, balance-based trailing limit (the Maximum Loss Limit) below which your account equity (i.e., Balance + Open Positions P/L ± Swaps − Commissions) cannot drop. If the equity drops below this limit, the rule is considered violated.
The Maximum Loss Limit is recalculated in real time as the difference between:
The limit updates the moment a trade closes at a new balance high. It can only increase, never decrease.
Your Maximum Loss Limit does not reset when you withdraw a Reward. The limit you have reached on your FTMO Instant Account continues to apply on your FTMO Account as well. This means that once your balance exceeds 110% of the Initial Simulated Capital, a Reward withdrawal would breach the Limit.
It is your responsibility to ensure the Reward withdrawal does not result in a breach of the Trading Objectives.
Example for a $50,000 account:
Limit before the 1st closed trade:
Limit after the 1st closed trade:
Limit after the 2nd closed trade:
To be eligible for a Reward, the Consistency rule requires that your Best Day does not represent more than 30% of your total profit.
The total profit is the cumulative sum of closed profits and losses across all trading days on the account.
The Best Day is a single day with the highest profit, where the profit is calculated from closed trades:
Exceeding the Consistency limit is not treated as a rule breach. However, you need to continue trading to generate additional profit until your Best Day (the most profitable day) represents 30% or less of your total profit on the account.
When you withdraw a Reward and continue on an FTMO Account, your total profit starts again from zero, so Consistency is measured only after the Reward withdrawal.
Because the profit achieved on the Best Day exceeds the 30% allowed limit, the Consistency rule is not satisfied. If Day 1 remains your Best Day, your total profit will have to be at least $20,000.
