FTMO Traders Q&A

Welcome to our new FTMO Traders!

We have many new FTMO Traders that have joined us since the beginning of August! Some of these traders have chosen to share their journey and some helpful tips and advice with you! Let’s take a look at what our newest additions had to say about becoming FTMO Traders!

Trader Georgios - "FTMO inspired me and made me practice even more and be better every day."

What inspires you to pursue trading?

I love everything about it from the potential that it can give you to the fact that it's an “everyday school”. Also, FTMO inspired me and made me practice even more and be better every day.

What was easier than expected during the FTMO Challenge or Verification?

The Challenge being easier than the verification for me.

Do you plan to take another FTMO Challenge to manage even bigger capital?

Of course.

What do you think is the most important characteristic/attribute to become a profitable trader?

Discipline, a lot of practice and always have faith and believe in yourself. Also always stick to the plan.

How did you eliminate the factor of luck in your trading?

From only taking trades that I saw potential in them and match my trading style and technique. Also, being patient helped me in this factor.

What would you like to say to other traders that are attempting the FTMO Challenge?

Only take trades that you actually see potential and never lose the opportunities if they are right in front of you, take action when you see a good setup. Always stick to the plan, be patient and last have faith and believe in yourself.

Trader Jason - "I want to provide my family with the life that they deserve."

What was more difficult than expected during your FTMO Challenge or Verification?

I expected both to be difficult, but The challenge portion was the most challenging.

How did you manage your emotions when you were in a losing trade?

Emotions don’t play a part in my trading anymore. I trust my analysis, and if I’m wrong I close the trade, analyze what went wrong and move on to the next. If necessary, I’ll take a break from the charts and come back with a fresh mind.

What was the most difficult during your FTMO Challenge or Verification and how did you overcome it?

During the challenge, I experienced a little more drawdown than I’m used to. To overcome it, I stepped away from the charts, did some cardio exercises and came back to the charts with a better mindset.

How has passing the FTMO Challenge and Verification changed your life?

It gives me an opportunity to provide a better life for my family.

What inspires you to pursue trading?

My family. I want to provide my family with the life that they deserve.

What is the number one piece of advice you would give to a new trader?

Study, study, study and backtest. Master your strategy, journal your trades and revisit your losing trades at the end of the week. Attempt to find out where you went wrong and how you could’ve optimized your decision to enter or not enter your trades.

Trader Johnatan - "Passing the FTMO Challenge and Verification will change my life in many ways."

What was the hardest obstacle on your trading journey?

The hardest obstacle on my trading journey has been psychology. I thought I was a good trader just because I understood the charts and technical analysis, but I was wrong. The last piece of the puzzle for me was mastering my own thoughts and emotions. Once I learned how to control my emotions and get out of my own way, I became much more successful and profitable.

What was easier than expected during the FTMO Challenge or Verification?

The challenge portion was much harder than the verification stage. Verification was more time so it was easier for sure.

How has passing the FTMO Challenge and Verification changed your life?

Passing the challenge and verification will change my life in many ways. The most obvious is giving me the ability to trade with $200,000. Having that much captial would never be possible without FTMO. Now I have an additional stream of income each month that most people can't say they have.

Do you have a trading plan in place, and do you follow it strictly?

Yes I have a trading plan in place and I always follow it. I really only lose when I don't follow my plan and do something I know I shouldn't do.

What inspires you to pursue trading?

Having the time and freedom to enjoy life and my family is what inspires me to pursue trading. To me, it's not very many industry's where I can make this type of income in such a short time.

What would you like to say to other traders that are attempting the FTMO Challenge?

Having goals and a plan is necessary to completing the Challenge. Make sure your risk management is on point and don't over trade. Keep your losses small and take profit any chance you get. Every little bit counts and adds up.

Trader Elante - "Ensure you have the capability to be profitable before putting money up for the Challenge"

Describe your best trade.

My best trade so far was on Gold and I profited 10K off of it. Textbook setup that was executed beautifully.

How did you manage your emotions when you were in a losing trade?

I do not let losing trades stir my emotions. This is a probabilities game and I know if I keep shooting, my RR ratio, and my tenacity will ensure I am profitable.

What was the hardest obstacle on your trading journey?

Stepping out of my own way. No longer sabotaging myself and further acting in a way that serves my best interest. Also changing from a trade by trade mindset to a probabilities mindset.

What do you think is the most important characteristic/attribute to become a profitable trader?

I think patience is. There is no rush, the moment you believe you're going to come into this game and make crazy profits right off the rip without any time in the game, you're screwed. Patience is a game changer and it definitely ensures that you're taking the best setups, closing when necessary, and plays on the belief that there will ALWAYS be another setup. It helps you stomach losses, and it allows you to realize you have to develop into the person/profitable trader that you want to be.

Where have you learnt about FTMO?

What would you like to say to other traders that are attempting the FTMO Challenge?

Take it slow. You have 30 days. Ensure you have the capability to be profitable before putting money up for the challenge by working with the free trial/demo account first. Think about your account in percentages. That will help you risk accordingly as well as pass the challenge within the allotted time frame.
