Q&As with our new FTMO Traders
Welcome to the next interview article with our FTMO Traders! Let's have a look at what they had to say about the FTMO experience.
How did trader Zakaria deal with overtrading?
How does your risk management plan look like?
I'm risking 1 to 2% maximum on 1 trade, 1% if I don't have many confirmations about the trade that I will execute, and 2% if I have lots of confirmations.
What was more difficult than expected during your FTMO Challenge or Verification?
Patience, Patience, Patience.
Where have you learnt about FTMO?
Instagram, YouTube.
What was the most difficult during your FTMO Challenge or Verification and how did you overcome it?
Overtrading was the huge problem, yes I'm risking 1 to 2% per trade but when I see that the trade is going smoothly to the target, I'm like why not add more lots, sometimes it works the price continue to its direction sometimes, you face directly a correction that will decrease your P/L, I overcome it by patience, no speed, 30 days/60days is more than enough to hit your target without breaking any rules if you're good at it.
How did you eliminate the factor of luck in your trading?
I do my technical analysis, I don't watch news or fundamentals at all, only technical analysis and then let the price go whatever it wants to go.
One piece of advice for people starting the FTMO Challenge now.
I advise you guys to be patient, patient, patient, I repeated patience lots of time because it plays a huge role in psychology, and of course do not start the Challenge until you succeed the free trial +2times with the same strategy, good luck!
Trader Leroy and his FTMO experience
Do you plan to take another FTMO Challenge to manage even bigger capital?
Yes, I'm planning on opening a new Challenge with FTMO to get bigger results with different strategies.
How would you rate your experience with FTMO?
The service with FTMO is fast and clear. I would rate FTMO a 9.
What was the hardest obstacle on your trading journey?
In the Challenge, I made a miscalculating which resulted in a bigger loss than calculated. This loss set me back in my profit of the Challenge, which showed me that the mindset and money management are two important things when it comes to trading.
What was easier than expected during the FTMO Challenge or Verification?
With the Verification I had twice the time and half the amount of profit to make in comparison to the Challenge. This is why I found the Verification a lot easier than the Challenge.
How did you eliminate the factor of luck in your trading?
I never place a trade when I'm not sure what I can expect. I place my trade's based on price action. When I'm not sure what the price action tells me, I will not place a trade. By following my rules of when to enter, how to enter and where to exit the trade I know what I'm doing.
What would you like to say to other traders that are attempting the FTMO Challenge?
1. Make sure you have a strategy. 2. follow your strategy and stick to your risk/reward. Before you enter a trade you know what to do in different circumstances.
Trader Adam shares his journey
What was the hardest obstacle on your trading journey?
The hardest obstacle so far has been controlling my emotions when trading. Whether its emotions of fear or greed, it is one of my largest Challenges to silence those emotions and to trust my analysis or capabilities.
Do you have a trading plan in place, and do you follow it strictly?
Yes, I do follow my trading plan strictly. Which involves: trading window hours, confirmations to enter the market, risk management, take profit/ partial rules.
How does your risk management plan look like?
My risk management plan is to risk 0.25%-0.5% of my account balance per trade.
The decision of how much to risk is dependent on which trading session I am participating in and how many confirmations my analysis shows me.
My risk/reward ratio for trades is a minimum of a 1:3 which allows me to confidently achieve weekly 6% gains, which is where I will stop trading for the week unless I have a position running in profit and will bring my stop loss to where it will not allow me to fall below my 6% weekly gain target.
Risk management I believe is the #1 most important element in a successful trader and is the #1 reason most traders fail.
What inspires you to pursue trading?
I pursue trading because it is my passion and it is something I thoroughly enjoy doing. Aside from it being my passion, it also allows me to make a significant income from anywhere in the world. It allows me to have time and money freedom if used correctly. I also love everything else that trading involves: chart analysis, studying/ back testing, economics, etc.
How would you rate your experience with FTMO?
My experience with FTMO has been outstanding. The process is super simple to follow, and I think the opportunity they give traders is incredibly generous.
I also love the business model they have created, I think its great and fair. The customer service has been amazing too, any support emails I have sent have been responded to rapidly with amazing communication. 10/10 rating overall.
What is the number one advice you would give to a new trader?
My number one advice would be to learn how to manage your risk and control your emotions when trading.
And if this is truly something you are passionate about, learn to fall in love with the process of accepting losses and studying hard of how and why these markets move.
Trading is a marathon, not a sprint. If you put time, effort and passion into learning it, it can be extremely rewarding.
Risk management is everything - Trader Aman
How does passing the Challenge and Verification changed your life?
It's allowed me the opportunity to work with more capital and over time I'll be able to further increase the amount of capital I have available to me. This will really allow me to take some money which I wouldn't have been able to do normally since I wouldn't have had access to such a large amount of capital.
What was the most difficult during your FTMO Challenge or Verification and how did you overcome it?
Staying focused and trusting in the strategy that I've worked so long to develop. There were moments where certain trades weren't looking so good and I wanted to close them early to minimize losses but instead I stuck to my strategy and the guidelines I set for myself which allowed some of those losses to actually become winners.
Where have you learnt about FTMO?
I found FTMO through their YouTube channel.
Do you have a trading plan in place, and do you follow it strictly?
I have very rigid plan that involves Fibonacci Retracements and price action. I follow this plan very strictly and it has really shown me some good success. I hope I can translate this success over to my live account.
Do you plan to take another FTMO Challenge to manage even bigger capital?
I definitely will!
